The Balancing Stones Sculpture Writing Project
FEBRUARY - MARCH 2017

It is a new day, and we are back with our Journals.  We last left off with instructions on what we were to write in our Journals.  As last stated, before we were to begin to write in our Journals about our Stone 6 word, we were to think about what angle we were writing from.  Did you choose to write from the angle of a Poet?  A Journalist?  A News Reporter?  A Novelist?  A Film-Maker?  A Song Writer?  A Short-Story Teller? or some other angle that was on your heart?

Once you took the time to answer the above question in your head & heart, then you were to WRITE a full page based upon your Stone 6 word, and the angle from which you are writing from (Poet, Journalist, News Reporter, Novelist, Film-Maker, Song Writer, Short-Story Teller, etc.).

SPECIAL NOTE:  If you were just joining us on the last Blog post, you could easily go back and look at previous Blog posts to catch up with us, or you could just start right where we are at present with Stone 6.  Just purchase a Journal and you can come right on into our Balancing Stones Sculpture Writing Project writing a full page based upon a word that you choose that is near and dear to your Writing and what you are concerned about. [Example: The Environment, The Arts, The Community . . .]

Due to the questions that came flooding in, a few people asked me to post a Journal Example on the Blog so that they could understand exactly how they were to write the full page on their Stone 6 word in their Journal with the instructions given.  There were also new participants that joined us, and wanted to start with our Stone 6 Journal entry.  So here is the example requested using my personal Balancing Stones Sculpture Writing Project Journal entry for Stone 6...

Journal Entry Stone 6 (Excerpt Above)

FULL JOURNAL ENTRY EXAMPLE

STONE 6 word:  “Therapy”

WRITING ANGLE:  Novelist

Journal Entry . . .

The day was dreary, the atmosphere bland.  While she worked with much effort, it all felt fruitless.  For the sake of coming into the space of creative progress, therapy was needed.  Sandra was always ready and willing to pull things together.  And, today was the day that she decided she was going to pull herself together by signing up for “therapy of the soul”.  It was a class that she had seen on the Billboard at King’s College on the Psychology Campus.

Sandra had decided to visit King’s College from time to time just to check out what was going on there.   She had long since graduated College, but went back because there was always something interesting going on, and she knew many of the Faculty Members.

As she thought about therapy of her soul, and what that might mean to her, she determined that it could only equal out to a positive outcome.  After all, what could she loose?

While visiting the Psychology Campus of King’s College she ran into her friend Elmira.  They had become friends while in College there at King’s, and Elmira had went on to become a Professor there at the College.  Her area of expertise was of course, Psychology.   They had both graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in “Behavioral Psychology”.

Behavioral psychology is also known asBehaviorism”.   Behavioral psychology is a theory of learning based on the idea that all behaviors are acquired through conditioning. Conditioning occurs through interaction with the environment. Behaviorists believe that our responses to environmental stimuli shape our actions.  Sandra felt that the theory was indeed true.  She thought back on one of her other courses in College...

PSYC 321 — Brain and Behavior
The course was designed to provide students with an introductory overview of how brain processes impact behavior and psychological functioning.  The course material as she remembered it was discussed in the context of the implications for both normal and abnormal behavior.

The connection to the course she had on the Brain and Behavior made her think about behaviorism as it related to her own personal conditioning and the interaction with the environment in which she lived.  As she thought about her learning over the years, she realized that her environment was shaping her actions.  Thus she could understand why there was a need inside of her to take a class on “therapy of the soul”.

What could come of her taking this particular class at this time in her life?  She didn’t know for sure, but she was hoping and expecting the best results possible.  And with that in mind, she was ready for a change of both mental and spiritual framing.  One more week before the class was to take place.  She took a breath.
