Now onward for tonight's Blog Session! . . .

Putting your creativity to work
with words

If you are here on the Blog with us tonight, then there is no doubt that you are a Writer.  If that is the case, then you probably have a love for words.  Words are a writer's best friend.  For the love of words, you'll do well if you gear up for 2018 with a brand new Dictionary and a nice Thesaurus.

If you are a Writer that intends to write about another country or culture, you may want to do a linguistics study to prepare for your book writing.  A linguistics study involves the scientific study of languages.

If you are a Christian Author or a Writer who intends to write about a particular religion or a certain culture or various cultures, there are several research studies that you can do both in the Library and online.

Doing a word study is a helpful Bible Study practice.  However, it involves more than just looking up all the verses where a word is used in the Bible.  It involves discovering those factors that specify which meaning is being used in a given context.  People sometimes make the mistake of thinking that a word has the same meaning in every instance, and this is certainly not the case.

As you get ready to step into the new year, set your mind to be successful with your book writing venture for the upcoming year.

Excited Writer

Get excited, because you are now on the eve of your newness of life.  As the Author of your new book, insert title here, you may also want to start thinking a little about where you will be doing your Book Signings, and which Publisher or Agent you will use.  You may also want to think about self-publishing your book.  You'll do well if you go in the direction that feels comfortable for you.

We'll be going over more writing tips in 2018, so be sure to check your email box for the published Blog Sessions that you signed up to have sent out to you.  You're also welcome to come back to the Blog often to review any Blog Sessions that you may have missed in previous years.  Just check over in the right-hand column of the Blog in our "Blog Archive".

Enjoy your final evening of 2017, and we'll meet back here on the 1st of January, 2018!

Preparing to write your Book in 2018!

Preparing to write
 your Book
in 2018!

BLOG SESSION
December 30th, 2017

As we get ready to head into a new year, we are gearing up to prepare our minds to write our books.  Welcome back to the Blog dear Writers, Authors & Novelists with ink ~

By now, everyone who has been following along here with us in our Blog Sessions has had a chance to at least pick up a Journal, a Diary, a Poetry Journal, and some items that will assist with writing your book in 2018.

The main item of business for each of us to think about right now is what we spoke about in our previous Blog Session when we were examining our emotional states.  You'll find that Session here in this link:  How do I write if I feel sad and depressed?

Once you click on the link, just scroll down to where you see the heading, "Your Personal Diary".  There you will find an instruction that was given to everyone about writing down how you were feeling.  The purpose of this was to make a note in your Diary of your emotional state.

Then you were to make a list of those items that may have been bothering you.  This is the list that is important for today's Blog Session.  You should also have a list of all of the people that you are holding grudges against, (about various things -- no matter how big or small), as well as a list of all of the people that you have not forgiven -- including any unforgiveness you are holding against yourself.

All of the items that you wrote about in your Diary that may have been bothering you, the people you were holding grudges against and all of the people you have not forgiven are to be focused on right now, because these items are all of the items that we are going to do away with.

These weights have to be tossed.  We are going to stop dwelling on those things that serve no good purpose for us.  We are going to clear our slate of unproductive and needless negativity so that we may get to the good part -- our writing.

So, Writers, Authors and Novelists with ink ~ meditate if you must, do some reflection, sit still, and take one last look at your weighty lists.

Do say your affirmation(s) and/or your prayer(s) this day, and get ready for a Blog Session tomorrow that will close out our  2017 year and get us ready to usher in 2018.

See you tomorrow back here on the Blog!

Time to come up off the bench

Time to come up off the bench

BLOG SESSION
December 28th, 2018

Welcome back all Writers, Authors, aspiring authors, emerging authors, Novelists, poets, Journalists, and creative writers of various genres ~ We're here once again to get all Writers who plan to write a book in 2018 up off the bench.  Hopefully, you've had a chance to read our previous Blog Session that was shared a couple of days ago entitled, "How do I write if I feel sad and depressed?"[Click on the link to view].

The previous Blog Session mentioned above was focused on guiding all Writers (following along here) in the right direction to get in touch with your thoughts and feelings.  It is important to keep track of your emotional state so that you make sure to maintain a healthy mental well-being, as well as a full self-awareness of what types of thoughts, feelings, and emotions are affecting your daily decisions.

If you are depressed, sad, angry, out-of-sorts, aggravated, annoyed, short-tempered, anxious, lonely, sad, or have any other self-defeating emotions/feelings, a Diary is a good tool for you to utilize.

Your Diary
(Daily personal writer's tool)

Please take advantage of writing in your Diary on a daily basis so that you may learn the therapeutic benefits of doing so.  If you are honest with yourself as you write about the daily happenings in your life, you will be amazed at how doing so will help you to work through any challenges or problems you may encounter in your life.

In light of our previous above-mentioned Session, the following Blog Session after that contained a poem which highlighted a person who exhibited feelings of depression, sadness, sorrow, loneliness, and regrets.  If you did not yet get a chance to read the poem, you may read it by clicking on the following link:  SHADOWS of DEPRESSION by René Allen

Poetry writing is very therapeutic for your soul.  If you are a poet, then you already know about the benefits of pulling forth the poetry that dwells in your soul.  The poetry which is deposited inside of you yearns to come forth through the ink in your pen, or the recorder on your smartphone.  If you are a writer and you have not focused on writing poetry, you should try doing so in a separate Journal dedicated just for your poetry writing...

Poetry Writing Journal

All poets here with us on the Blog are encouraged to take some time to write in your Poetry Journal as often as the poetic spirit moves you.  Poetry writing is another way to unload your feelings in a very creative way.  You'll find that once you place what is within you on paper,  you'll feel more inspired to write.

Once you have headed in the direction of writing or creating in any form, you'll find that your spirit will feel uplifted, and you'll be motivated to continue forth in the direction of creating.

It is all about coming up off of the bench if you have been sitting out on the side-lines when it comes to your writing...

Helpful advice for you ~ get outdoors if you feel a need to bench it at any point.  Be inspired by nature and the fresh air.

Never let your bench moments last too long dear Writer.  If you do that, then you may fall into the gloomy doldrums wherein depression, sadness, inactivity, and sluggishness could possibly take a hold of you, and you definitely don't want that to happen now do you?

Right now, we are going to tackle the subject matter at hand, "Time to come up off the bench" . . .

Here is what you need to do in order to start getting active:

1.  Take walks (outdoors or indoors)

2.  Exercise with your own equipment or at the Gym;

3.  Think positive thoughts (write down your positive
      feelings);

4.  Keep a Gratitude Journal of all the things you are grateful
      for;

5.  Write daily in your Diary;

6.  Use your Poetry Journal on a regular basis;

7.  Create artworks or other artistic items (pottery, knitting,
     sewing, leather works, sketches, drawings, videos, dances,
     sing and/or write songs...);

8.  Watch interesting movies that inspire you and make you
      feel more creative;

9.  Search for interesting things on the internet that you
      might want to write your book about;

10.  Assemble all of your writing items such as Journals,
        Notepads, Notebooks, pens, file folders, and other items
        that will inspire you to write and work on your book; and

11.  Read the type of books in the genre that you like and plan
        to write your book about -- i.e., mystery, poetry,  culture,
        historical fiction, comedy, self-help, memoir, crime
        drama, detective, etc.

And, final note for today . . .

SHADOWS of DEPRESSION by René Allen

SHADOWS of DEPRESSION

by René Allen

On a clear day I can SEE SHADOWS

They move, they dance, they leap, they prance

before me

Somewhat like water does

except it isn't the water I feel

It isn't the feeling I want

or seek

or need

or desire

It's merely SHADOWS . . .

coming like they always do ~

SHADOWS of DEPRESSION

passing over the me of YOU

and then I bend to brace

to trace back to the place

where I lost myself in depths

of sadness

of pity

of sorrow

Until I realize

that SHADOWS

evade

pervade the psyche

of my mind

and encompass me

to the point of

d~i~s~a~b~i~l~i~t~y

on levels that I can SEE CLEARLY

right here

STANDING here. . .

FEEL me

Touch me

KNOW me.

I am but a shadow of YOU.

How do I write if I feel sad and depressed?

How do I write if I feel sad and depressed?

BLOG SESSION
December 27th, 2017

Welcome back Blog Readers, Followers & Visitors!  We are here for another fabulous Blog Session with all of the Writers, Authors, Novelists, short story writers, and Poets among us in mind.

If you are planning to write a book, novel, poetry collection, biography, historical book, documentary, self-help book, children's book, memoir, or another type of writing in 2018 for publication, then you are in the right place.

If you would, please grab your Journal and pen so that you can take notes...

Journal Notes
(How do I write if I feel sad and depressed?)

We are quickly approaching 2018, and with that in mind, we want to clear out all sadness and depression, and learn to overcome any melancholy feelings that any of us may be feeling at the current time.  This Blog Session today is about how to write if you may feel sad or depressed.  Since everyone may have moments in their life when this may happen, you can keep these Journal Notes for any time when you may need to refer back to today's Session.

Sometimes Writers have times when they may feel sad, sorrowful, unhappy, or outside of themselves for no real apparent reason.  Not only does this condition affect Writers, but every other type of creative person and other individuals on this planet.  A lot has happened over the years, and many things in particular have happened in 2017.  I might also point out that the Holiday Season is not always a pleasant time for everyone.  So rest assured there is always a brighter day ahead, and thank goodness we are about to turn the corner and enter into another year!

Here is where we get down to the business of gearing up, perking up, and putting on a new attitude.  We're going to write a book in 2018, and we've got a lot of good things to look forward to!

If you were here for our last Blog Session, you'll remember that we discussed both personal Journals and Diaries to get you into the groove of your 2018 book writing journey.

Here is how your Diary can help you to get over any sadness or sorrow that you may be feeling...

Your Personal Diary

The first thing you need to do to get your Diary to operate as your trusted friend and personal therapist is to be honest with yourself.  Use today to do some writing in your Diary...

First, write down how you feel right now.  Happy, joyful, reserved, sad, mad, angry, hungry, tired, irritated?  Whatever the case may be ~ write down today's day, then write down your emotional state.  Then make a mention of what the weather is like, and where you are exactly -- at home, at a relative's house, at a friend's house, on vacation, in the office...

Then, turn the page and write down the list of things that may be bothering you.  No matter how trite the issue may seem to you when you really think about it, still write it down.  It could be something as simple as a missing item that you still can't find after three months...write it down.

Next, for all of the people that you are holding grudges with (about various things -- no matter how big or small), list them.  If you have not forgiven people, list them.  If you have not forgiven yourself, write down what those items are that you have not forgiven yourself about.

After you list your items of annoyances, grudges, and unforgiveness issues with others and/or yourself, turn the page, and list the items that you seek to accomplish in 2018.  Start with your book writing -- what will the title of your book be?

The key here is to write down all of the items above so that you can get them off your chest.

Now, let your Diary sit, because you've unloaded and what will happen next is an upbeat turn for tomorrow when we pick our Diaries back up.

How to write from the heart

How to write from the heart

BLOG SESSION
December 26th, 2017

Our Session for today is about how to learn to write from the heart.
How to write from the heart

If you have your Journal out, please grab your ink pen and get ready to take notes on today's Session.

The first thing you'll need to remember is that writing from the heart is about being true to yourself.  You'll have to have a good long talk with yourself about what kind of writing you are going to be doing.  Are you going to be writing a fiction novel?  Or would you rather write a Memoir?  Do you want to write a self-help book, a documentary, or a Science Fiction Novel?  Would you prefer to write a Mystery, a detective story or a Crime Novel?  Maybe you prefer to write a book of poetry...

A good way to engage with yourself is to purchase a Diary...

Diary

If you already have a Diary, that is good news.  If you do not yet have a Diary, now is a good time to get one so that you will be ready for the upcoming year.

The benefit of using your Diary on a daily basis is that you will learn a great deal about yourself.  Not only will you be more in touch with the activities that are taking place in your life, you will also be more in touch with your emotions, feelings, hopes & dreams.

Your heart's desires are important.  Learning how to write from the heart is also important.  When you write from your heart, your writing will contain emotion and passion.  Your writing will be moving, whether you are writing a drama, a comedy, a mystery, or a tragic story.  You must feel what you write.  Your writing has to be both engaging and believable.

Your readers should enjoy reading what you write

If you would like to go a step further, it is a good idea to also have a personal Journal dedicated to what the book you wish to write will entail.  You can use your personal Journal to keep track of the notes in relation to your book/novel.  The activity that takes place in your Journal will keep you engaged in the story that is inside of you waiting to be told in book form.  Your personal Journal about your book/novel will help you to keep all of your ideas in relation to your story in one place.  You can work on the Introduction, Synopsis, list of characters, chapter notes, story location notes, scenes, character interactions, background on each character, the plot, conflicts, and any other information specific to the book you intend to write.

Be sure to keep an eye toward making sure that the look of your personal Journal is inviting and inspiring so that you will be more than willing to write in it on a daily basis.  A dull looking Journal will not be motivating, so do get something that will motivate you to pick it up and write in it...

Decorative Personal Journal
(For your Book/Novel Notes)

Writing from the heart starts with you ~ your thoughts ~ your feelings ~ your emotions ~ your dreams ~ your passions ~ your hopes ~ your struggles ~ your challenges ~ and your faith.

Your Readers await, so please be sure to join us for our next engaging Blog Session!
