Journal Notes

Our Blog Session for today is a continuation of our discussion about The Writer's Comfort Levels.  We'll be diving into the emotion of "Curiosity".

When it comes to writing your daily diary entries and/or Journal entries about the happenings in your life, keep the emotion of curiosity in your mind.

Curiosity in short is a strong desire to know or learn something.

Why go to Mars?

Could it be the element of "curiosity" that spurs the quest on?

What happens when you begin to question why you do what you do?  Do you ever take the time to question why you do what you do?

Curiosity is a quality related to inquisitive thinking such as exploration, investigation, and learning, evident by observation in human and animal species.  Curiosity is heavily associated with all aspects of human development, in which derives the process of learning and the desire to acquire knowledge and skill.

When it comes to writing your stories, writing projects, journal notes, and even your daily diary entries ~ if you keep the emotion of "curiosity" alive, then what would otherwise be a very dull story turns into something exciting and thought-provoking.  When you are curious about why you do what you do ~ it will carry over to ever facet of your life.

Curiosity starts at a young age

You should ask yourself why do you write what you write?

Children Writing

If you have ever taken the time to watch children as they grow and learn, you will notice that a large part of their learning stems from their affinity with the emotion of curiosity.

Curiosity is what makes life interesting.  Curiosity leads to questioning, which leads to the search for answers, which leads to learning new things and finding new areas to explore.

As a Writer, you will gravitate to the genre of writing that you are the most curious about and interested in.  Whatever interests you ignites your passion, and passion is the fuel needed to carry out the thrilling work of writing your Novel.

Some Writers are good at writing about gardening for example.  Those Writers probably were curious about gardening at a young age.  That curiosity sticks and stays even when we think we have forgotten . . .

Here is where you make a note in your Journal about your childhood curiosities...

What were you curious about as a child?

What caught your interest as a child and still has your interest as an adult?

Whenever you had to write a paper as a youth, what topics did you gravitate to?

Young Writer

Your writing is full of all of your curiosities.  It was then, and it is still the same now.

Writer, let your curiosity lead you to the genre that excites you!
