Novelist at work in a inspiring environment...

Novelist at work in a inspiring environment...

BLOG SESSION
November 25th, 2017

Novelists, I'm hoping that as you are finishing up the last chapters of your Novel that you are taking time to relax a bit in between running to your computer to click those keys!

It is always best to have a relaxed mind when you are working on your writing.  If you place yourself in a noisy environment to do your writing, you are adding extra pressure that you don't need -- that is of course if you are not one of those Writers that has to have a lot of activity and noise around you to get yourself worked up into a frenzy of writing which somehow gets you flowing better.  I smile at that as I think about the frustration that that would cause some of us.

The other thing that I'd like to mention tonight is that you should not get frustrated if your computer acts crazy and does odd things right in the middle of your best writing....

Frustrated Writer

If the above scene happens to you, just log off, take a break, then come back and restart your computer.  And, definitely be sure to save your chapters in your word processing program.  It is good of course to have your chapters written, but you must also type them out, and when you do, be sure to have a back-up copy.

I might also mention that in the excitement of writing, some Writers just get way too stressed and cause a mess~up environment to happen around them.  There is no use getting your environment all out of whack, and stressing out your computer with your crazy vibrational activity.  Just calm down, and take it easy . . .

Take a moment to go by the water to calm down if you need to.  Breathe ~ inhale, then exhale.  If you don't have any body of water around you that you can run to, then just sit still and focus on something calming before you head back to your keyboard...

Focus on a calming object dear Novelist

For those Novelists who are here with us this evening, if you need a little inspiration on one of your breaks between writing your Novel, take a moment to check out the NaNoWriMo Forums.  (Just click on the link to get there).

BLOG SESSION
November 24th, 2017

Good Evening Novelists, Authors, Writers, Poets, Journalists, Short-Story Writers, Film Writers, Playwrights, and all Creative Writers ~

If you are thinking about writing a Novel then you are in the right place!  We are all Writers that have a Novel inside of us.  Our Novels are specific to our specific dream.  Some of us are interested in writing a Science Fiction Novel, others of us would like to write a Romance Novel, and there are those of us who are interested in tackling the Historical Fiction genre.

Whatever you dream of writing, keep daring to dream, and then get your fingers in gear to start typing away!

For those of us who are on NaNoWriMo.org inputting our Novel Chapters, we are here today to share how many words we have written so far.  You can share how many words you've written in the "Comments Section" at the end of this Blog Session.  I'm still working on my Novel, and will add my word count before the 30th!

About Editing

About Editing

BLOG SESSION
November 14, 2017

Writers, Authors, Novelists, Poets, Journalists, aspiring authors, emerging authors, as well as all Blog Readers,  Followers, and Visitors, we are back here for another exciting Blog Session!

Our Session today will be about the Writer's favorite topic ~ Editing.

We can't head into the editing process without first doing the initial proofreading.  Our stories are always wonderful to write, but we must not forget to proofread, and then proofread again.  It is good to have someone who you know has a good eye for correcting grammar and other errors that you may otherwise miss when you proofread your story yourself.

Writers, here is a good visual for you to place someone on your desk or copy and add to your Writing Notebook so that you never forget these steps . . .

Writer's Cycle

The Writer's Writing Cycle goes like you see in the diagram above.  A Writer will first "think" about the story they are planning to write.  This process includes all the details, the storyline, the characters, the scenes, the background information, and all research.  Once this process is complete, the next step is the "Write" your story.  Once you have written your story out, if you are like most Writers, you will re-read your story over and over to adjust any needed items.  You will also proofread your story and correct all errors.  This step will lead you to the next step in the Writer's Cycle, which is called, "Edit".

When you edit your story, this process involves preparing your mind to read over your story for the purpose of correcting anything and everything that makes your story cumbersome to read.  Your editing process will involve correction, condensation, organization, and a host of other modifications that will produce correct, consistent, accurate, and most importantly ~ a completed work.  Your editing process as the Author will begin with your idea for your work itself.  This process will be a collaboration between the Author and the Editor.  If you are serving as both Author and Editor, then you will need to be extra careful about your editing process.  It is always good to have a second set of eyes edit your story.  Some writers choose to hire a professional Editor to do this for them.

Editing your story

The final stage of editing involves the "polish" of your story.  Polishing your story is essential.  Getting your story to the point where it flows well, and your storyline is extremely interesting and inviting to the Reader is not always as easy as it may first appear to be.  However it is necessary, and it is possible.  When you finish polishing your story, and you know you have done a good job, you will breathe easy ~ lean back, and be proud of yourself!

Writers Write When You Are Comfortable

Writers Write When You Are Comfortable

BLOG SESSION
November 10th, 2017

As you think about writing your Novel dear Novelist, keep in mind a very comfortable space for you to sit down and write what comes to you.  Let your mind be open to receive words, thoughts, visuals, and inspirational insight that can be included in your Novel writing.  Bits and pieces give you a good roadmap from which to expand upon.

If you have several ideas for several Novels that seem to keep nagging at you, do take time to write your ideas down on paper.  You'll find that the right time to work on your ideas will come, and at that time your ideas will blossom and your ink will flow out onto your paper producing the story that you alone were meant to write.  You could not possibly imagine your story right out, and you will not believe the results of all of your various ideas until your Novel writing is completed.

Notepad to capture your ideas

It is vital that you carry a nice notepad with you wherever you go so that you can write down the ideas that come to you during your daily travels.

Putting your thoughts on paper is one step closer to getting your Novel typed up.  Some Writers prefer to write their complete Novel on paper, while other Writers prefer to type their Novel up from beginning to end -- including all thoughts, notes, ideas, and inspirational insight.

The Typewriter

The typewriter is a Novelist's best friend.  Be sure to place your typewriter or computer in a space that is both comfortable and inspiring.  Your typing space should call out to you to 'relax and let your writing flow'.

Everyone has their own way of doing things.  Of course, the Novelist is not exempt from personal directives.  As long as your passion to write is nourished, you will find no problem getting to work writing the Novel that has been placed in your heart to write.

Enjoy your writing journey, because you'll find that the journey that you are now on will open doors that you could never have imagined.  Many surprises are in store for you, so keep writing!
