Springtime, (during the month of April 2018), we Writers will be busy cranking out our next interesting Novel.  What about you?  Will you be participating at Camp NaNoWriMo in the virtual world?  If you plan to write your first book, your next book, or work on a Writing Project, the month of April is a good time for you to get online and get busy creating your next masterpiece.  All you have to do if you have never participated before at Camp NaNo is to click on the link and sign up!  It is free, and it is FUN!

For those of you who have participated during the month of November in previous years ~  (November is National Novel Writing Month) online at:   NaNoWriMo.org ~ you will have an idea of what writing a Novel in 30 days is all about.  During Camp online at Campnanowrimo.org, we'll be doing the same thing we do during the month of November.  At Camp, you have the freedom to write whatsoever you desire, and it doesn't have to be a Novel.  You can write a poetry book, a Memoir, a Biography, a Research Project, or any other Writing Project that you are interested in creating.

There is a lot to talk about when it comes to Camp NaNo, so before we really get into more details, just click on the link and sign up . . .

About Ghostwriters . . .

About Ghostwriters . . .

BLOG SESSION
January 22nd, 2018

Good Evening Writers, Authors, Poets, Literary Lovers, Blog Readers, Followers & Visitors ~ You are in for a treat!

Our Blog Session scheduled for this evening is being interrupted to bring you information about Ghostwriters in response to a request received from a Reader of our last Blog Session.  In our last Session,  we briefly discussed pen names and ghostwriters when talking about our Book Writing Diary.

Just as an overview for those of you who may have missed our Blog Session, ghostwriter is hired to write literary or journalistic works, speeches or other texts that are officially credited to another person as the Author.  Celebrities, executives, participants in timely news stories, and political leaders often hire ghostwriters to draft or edit autobiographies, memoirs, magazine articles, or other written material.  In music, ghostwriters are often used to write songs, lyrics and instrumental pieces.  Screenplay Authors can also use ghostwriters to either edit or rewrite their scripts to improve them.

Just so you know . . .

Author Tom Clancy at a Book Signing

The popular demand for Tom Clancy's action novels exceeded his ability to write new books.  As a result, his publisher hired ghostwriters to write novels in the Clancy style.

More about Ghostwriters . . .

Ghostwriters are writers for hire who take money but none of the credit for the work produced.  The original writer, or author, is hiring the ghost as a freelance writer to produce copy writer work for a fee.  The author takes all the credit for all of the original work produced, including all of the original writing produced by the ghostwriter.  The ghost, who is usually paid in advance of completing the job, gets the money as a “work for hire” job and assumes none of the credit for the ghostwriting work.

What are the reasons to Hire a GhostWriter?

This may sound odd, but it is a common practice.  When someone wants to create new copy for a website, a ghostwriter may be hired to rewrite it, and there are many similar jobs such as writing ad or business copy, or supplying new or rewritten material for personal or professional use.  The ghost is hired primarily as a professional freelance writer, in order to produce high quality writing copy so that the writing reads professionally.
Ghostwriters are also hired to write books for people.  In such cases, the author of the book is the person who hires the ghostwriter, and not the ghost, unless the book author wants to share some of the credit with the ghost.  In this case, the ghost may be listed as a coauthor or as the “editor” of the book, and generally this is listed somewhere in the acknowledgments page.

How to Become a GhostWriter

However you slice it, the ghost writing business can be quite lucrative.  In order to become a well paid ghost, you should have plenty of experience as a freelance writer, perhaps including some books published under your own name or years of experience writing website and other types of copy for businesses.  You should be experienced as a freelance writer who has been paid regularly for your services, and then you may take on the career of becoming a paid professional freelance ghostwriter.  There is always room in the writing profession for another freelance writer.  Freelance writing can be a very lucrative career, once you know how to handle the ins and outs of the business.  And, once you learn how to deal with your clients as a ghost writer should.

Getting into writing

Getting into writing

BLOG SESSION
December 22nd, 2017

Good Morning Writers, Blog Readers, Followers & Visitors ~ We're back for another exciting Blog Session geared for YOU!

It is time to start getting into writing ~ as the year closes out, we want 2018 to be all about what we dream of writing about.  If you have not yet gathered up new Journals and Diaries for yourself for the quickly approaching 2018 year, it is time to get your wonderful Journals and Diaries ready!

For all of the Artists following along on the Blog, making a wonderful Journal and/or Diary is also a good idea to inspire you to write.  All you have to do is artistically embellish a plain Journal to get your creative juices flowing.

The key to writing is to do what is necessary ~ write.

Write wherever you feel comfortable

Whatever you'd like to write about is waiting on you to get your pen flowing, or get your fingers moving on the keyboard.

Really, the best way to get yourself inspired is to use your Journals and your Diary to keep track of your thoughts, your  activities, and the events that are taking place in your mind, life, and heart.

Utilize your Journal/Diary daily

We often forget that many of the events in our life start in our hearts and minds.  We create them before we even step into them.  We also forget that much of what we write is activated because we have taken the time to write it down.

So today, you are being encouraged to write down what is going on with you dear Writer.  It is all about getting into our writing in 2018.

Be sure to check back tomorrow with your Journal or Diary in hand!

About Editing

About Editing

BLOG SESSION
November 14, 2017

Writers, Authors, Novelists, Poets, Journalists, aspiring authors, emerging authors, as well as all Blog Readers,  Followers, and Visitors, we are back here for another exciting Blog Session!

Our Session today will be about the Writer's favorite topic ~ Editing.

We can't head into the editing process without first doing the initial proofreading.  Our stories are always wonderful to write, but we must not forget to proofread, and then proofread again.  It is good to have someone who you know has a good eye for correcting grammar and other errors that you may otherwise miss when you proofread your story yourself.

Writers, here is a good visual for you to place someone on your desk or copy and add to your Writing Notebook so that you never forget these steps . . .

Writer's Cycle

The Writer's Writing Cycle goes like you see in the diagram above.  A Writer will first "think" about the story they are planning to write.  This process includes all the details, the storyline, the characters, the scenes, the background information, and all research.  Once this process is complete, the next step is the "Write" your story.  Once you have written your story out, if you are like most Writers, you will re-read your story over and over to adjust any needed items.  You will also proofread your story and correct all errors.  This step will lead you to the next step in the Writer's Cycle, which is called, "Edit".

When you edit your story, this process involves preparing your mind to read over your story for the purpose of correcting anything and everything that makes your story cumbersome to read.  Your editing process will involve correction, condensation, organization, and a host of other modifications that will produce correct, consistent, accurate, and most importantly ~ a completed work.  Your editing process as the Author will begin with your idea for your work itself.  This process will be a collaboration between the Author and the Editor.  If you are serving as both Author and Editor, then you will need to be extra careful about your editing process.  It is always good to have a second set of eyes edit your story.  Some writers choose to hire a professional Editor to do this for them.

Editing your story

The final stage of editing involves the "polish" of your story.  Polishing your story is essential.  Getting your story to the point where it flows well, and your storyline is extremely interesting and inviting to the Reader is not always as easy as it may first appear to be.  However it is necessary, and it is possible.  When you finish polishing your story, and you know you have done a good job, you will breathe easy ~ lean back, and be proud of yourself!
