Thinking about Writing?

Thinking about Writing?

BLOG SESSION
December 21st, 2017

Greetings Writers, Blog Readers, Followers & Visitors ~ Today's Blog Session is about you...

Are you thinking about writing a book in 2018?

If so, then you are in the right place!

Time to grab your Journal so that you can take notes...

JOURNAL NOTES

The first thing you need to make a note of is a title entitled, "Overview" at the top of your Journal page.  Underneath this heading, you are going to do an overview of your life during 2017.  You'll jot down the following items:

1.   Things you enjoyed doing this year;

2.   Things you absolutely detested doing this year;

3.   Things that moved you this year emotionally;

4.   Issues that concern you because you were stirred up by
       those issues;

5.   Goals that you reached that you are proud of;

6.   Goals that you seek to reach in 2018;

7.   What your passions are;

8.   What you dream of doing in 2018 that you foresee being
       gratifying to your soul;

9.   Places you'd like to travel to; and finally,

10.  What you'd like your book to be about.

Many of the Blog Readers here are writers, authors, poets, music enthusiasts, journalists, documentary writers, film writers, playwrights, song writers, artists, and creatives of various genres.

There are many directions you can choose to head in if you plan to write a book in 2018.  One recommendation is for you to get involved with Writers Groups online or in person.  Another suggestion is for your to participate in NaNo Writing Camp in April 2018 and July 2018 and/or National Novel Writing Month in November of 2018 online at NaNoWriMo.org.

If you are a Writer, it is always a good idea to do your research in relation to the Genre that you are interested in.  There are many genres to consider if you are new to writing.  We have gone over some of those genres in previous Blog Sessions, and you will find some of those Sessions in our "Blog Archive" over in the right-hand column.  Do take a moment to explore some of our previous Blog Sessions when you have time.  If you have any questions, be sure to place them in our "Comments Section" at the bottom of the Blog.

After you have gone over the answers that you placed in your Journal to the ten questions above, you will be moved to think a little further about what you'd like your book to be about in 2018.

Doing a personal overview at the end of each year is eye-opening.  You can always ask yourself any questions that you feel you personally need to explore.  Hence, it is a great idea to have a Diary for 2018 to keep track of you and what is going on with you -- it makes for good writing!

Think about what you'd like to write about...

We'll be back for another Blog Session tomorrow!

How is your personal Library looking?

 How is your personal Library looking?

BLOG SESSION
December 2nd, 2017

Good Evening Writers ~ we're back for another exciting Blog Session!  We'd like to focus today on your personal Library.

Just to let you in on our topics here...normally, we discuss writing tips and from time to time we cover other areas of interest for all new Readers to our Blog.  Last month we focused on NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).  Many of our Blog Readers participated in the fun of writing a Novel in 30 days.  The goal for our novels was 50,000 words in whatever genre we so desired.

Fortunately, I was able to complete my Novel this year on nanowrimo.org with all of the other fellow Writers.  I love participating each year online with other like-minded Writers.  And even more, I love writing.  My Novel, entitled 'HouseCapades' was completed with 50,433 words!  When you are able to complete your 50,000 words, you receive this badge...

Wrote 50,000 Words and Validated

I'm planning to do a little editing on my Novel, like many of the other NaNoWriMo Winners.  What comes next for the participants is purely up to the individual  Author/Novelist.  You can learn more by checking out your dashboard on the nanowrimo site.  And, in January 2018, you can check out nanowrimo's "I Wrote a Novel--Now What?" page.  In January you can get help on taking the next steps with your Novel.

If you happened to have participated in NaNoWriMo this year and did not happen to reach the 50,000 word count mark, not to worry ~ you can definitely use what you wrote to keep working on your Novel.  Nothing is in vain.

There is NaNo Summer Camp in the months of April and July 2018.  You may want to participate in writing your fabulous Novel at that time.  It will be not only inspiring to you, but also to others who have the same goal.

Hopefully, if you are a Writer, you are also a Reader of great Novels.  If you have not built up your own personal Library why not start now.  Those who read a lot tend to have a better handle on writing their own Novel that awaits readership.

Until we meet again back here on the Blog, enjoy your weekend!

Your Novel

BLOG SESSION
December 1st, 2017

Novelists it is time to visualize your Novel.  If you are planning on writing a Novel in 2018, then now is the time to start thinking about what your story is going to be about.

Here's a starter for you ~ try tossing these questions around in your head...Have you figured out the genre that your Novel will be?  Do you have a certain love for particular stories?  Are you a Poet?  Do you have an interest in Science Fiction?  Would you like to write a Memoir?  Do you have a Novel Cover in mind already?

Here is a list of items to think about this month . . .

1.  Scenes in your story

2.  Goal of your storyline

3.  Obstacles

4.  Conflicts

5.  Resolution

6.  The number of Chapters that you have in mind

7.  Characters in your story

8.  Background information on your Characters

9.  Total number of words you are aiming for

Of course, there are other items that you may like to add to this list, and you are welcome to add your comments and thoughts here on the Blog in the "Comments Section" at the end of this Blog post.

If you were here with us during the month of November while we were participating in NaNoWriMo online for National Novel Writing Month, then you may already have your next Novel in mind.

Congratulations to all Novelists who hit the 50,000 word mark and completed the journey online with your fellow Authors, Novelists, Writers, aspiring authors and emerging authors.

If by chance you did not make it to the 50,000 word mark and gave it your best shot, then you still have a great amount of writing material to work with for NaNo Summer Camp, or NaNoWriMo 2018!

If you did not happen to participate in NaNoWriMo at all this year, then it is a good opportunity for you to simply check out the website and get ready for all of the upcoming Novel Writing events ~ just click on the link above to get there.  You'll have to sign up in order to fully see all of the material available to you.

Be sure to join us back here for our next Blog Session as we discuss more about writing geared specifically for the Writer in YOU.

Enjoy your day!

Evening Edition

Good Evening Emerging Novelists of 2017 ~ we are really getting into the groove of this Novel writing business online.  As you can see from the image at the top of tonight's Blog Session, I'm a little busy just like the cat with the typing paws.

For this evening, I'm going to share a nice link that you can take a look at during your Novel Writing break while in the middle of finishing up your Novel or writing project on NaNoWriMo...

Pro Tips from a NaNo Coach: Figuring Out How to Finish

When you click on the above link, you'll be able to read Author and NaNo Coach K. Ancrum's tailored advice for wherever you may find yourself at this moment in your writing journey.

At the present time, my word count is 44,254 words.  I'm going to continue typing, and adding to my Novel this evening.  I expect to definitely get to 50,000 words or beyond by sometime tomorrow if not before.

This month's adventure that we have all been having has been an eye~opening experience.  Many of us have found our passion for writing once again.  Others of us have discovered that we can write more words than we thought we could in a given amount of time.

Many of us are working diligently on our Novels and/or writing projects this evening so that we may complete our National Novel Writing Month in style with a cool congratulations to ourselves for all of our hard work.

While many of us used to type to keep our typing speed up, now we type to accomplish a completed Novel!

Get those photos ready for your Author/Novelist shot!

Noon Edition ~ Authors & Novelists with ink...

BLOG SESSION
November 29th, 2017

Noon Edition

Good Afternoon Authors & Novelists ~ We're back here on the Blog for a quick Session about your writing project that you took on for the month of November.

Many of us participated in NaNoWriMo this month for National Novel Writing Month wherein every Writer gets online to work on their 50,000 word Novel for the year among other wonderful Writers & Authors.

If you are here with us, then you are most likely a Writer who has a real passion for writing.  No matter what genre you are gravitating towards, a couple of areas that we have not discussed in depth are the areas of Journalism and Historical Fiction.

JOURNALISM
The activity or profession of writing for newspapers, magazines, or news websites or preparing news to be broadcast.

HISTORICAL FICTION
This genre presents a story set in the past, often during a significant time period.  In historical fiction, the time period is an important part of the setting and often of the story itself.  Historical fiction may include fictional characters, well-known historical figures or a mixture of the two.

If you have not yet looked into these two areas, please take a moment to do so at some point.

Wrapping up your Novel for this month

As you continue to work on your Novel today to wrap up for NaNoWriMo by the deadline of midnight November 30th ~ enjoy the journey!

Really loving my Novel!

Really loving my Novel!

BLOG SESSION
November 29th, 2017

Good early Morning Novelists ~ If you have had a chance to sit down and relax your mind for a minute as you relish the thought of finishing up your Novel for NaNoWriMo tomorrow by midnight (if you have not done so already), you've gotta love your Novel!

Just think about how far you've come with your writing...especially if you are participating in National Novel Writing Month for the first time.

Let's just say you have a few little touches to add, or a little editing to do, or a little tweaking of some scenes to be made -- you still have time.  Stress not.  An hour of Novel work can be amazing in terms of your sense of accomplishment with what you can work through in a little bit of time.

Another great idea for you is to grab a cute little fun Journal or creative art notebook that you've purchased or made to lighten your mood . . .

The Lighten Up Journal

Isn't that little Journal above cute!  It kinda reminds me of how many of us may feel as we work on getting to the 50,000 word mark.  Here's an opportunity for you to lighten up and jot down some fun thoughts about your Novel Writing adventure for the month of November this year.  Like how you wanted to pull your hair out ~ or how your computer keys got stuck ~ or how you kept getting interrupted ~ or how you hit a mind fog ~ hahahah!

You've gotta admit ~ It's fun, it's exciting, it is also something that you can continue to do now that you have done it this month -- remember the Writer in you has a need to keep writing and creating stories.

Now if you're a man, you may want a little something more manly that will give you a sense of levity.  How about this . . .

Chill out in nature for half an hour

After you've taken a little bit of time to relax a bit, then go back to completing your Novel or writing project on NaNoWriMo.  You've still got well over 24 hours to go before midnight strikes on the 30th.  Do you know how much you can accomplish in just 24 hours?  Lots!

Just thought I'd pop in and give you a little morning pep~up Blog Session as we all wrap up our Novels and writing projects on NaNoWriMo.  I'll be back later on in the day to drop another Blog Session on you!

 ~ Chat with you in a bit ~
