Introversion (personality) ~ The Writer's Comfort Levels ~ PART 20

Introversion (personality)
The Writer's Comfort Levels
PART 20

BLOG SESSION
February 17th, 2018

Welcome back Blog Readers, Writers, Authors, Novelists, Journalists, Poets, Diary Writers, Short Story Writers, Film Writers, and all Artists, Followers & Visitors...

You are in for a very introspective Blog Session today.  For everyone who believes that they are among the many people in the world who have an introverted personality or who know friends and/or family members who have introverted personalities, this will be an exceptionally good Session for you!

For all new Blog Session followers, please be sure to have your Journal ready when you come to the Sessions so that you will have your informative notes to look back on...

Journal Notes

Main Points relative to the Introverted Personality:

Introversion is one of the major personality traits identified in many theories of personality.  People who are introverted tend to be inward turning, or focused more on internal thoughts, feelings and moods rather than seeking out external stimulation.

What if YOU fit the description above?

The Introverted Personality

Suppose you feel that you have an introverted personality, and that people are always pointing out that you seem to be detached, unfriendly, non-communicative, moody, to-yourself more than normal, or worst case scenario ~ strange.

Try not to take it personally when people point out your personality trait.

Being an introvert isn’t necessarily a bad thing.  If it prevents you from doing what you really want to do, or hinders your working and personal life, then something should change.  However, introverts should be happy being so.  Everyone is not meant to be over-the-top bubbly and happy all the time, and it is okay if you are not an extrovert in the sense that people seem to think you need to be.

Get comfortable with who you are
and be comfortable with your
Personality Character Trait

We will come back with Part 20(b) as we discuss how to write about an Introverted personality in one of your stories.

We'll also go over top ten ways for Introverts to get through their day, which includes mostly a "How To " in getting out of negative situations and keeping positive about your character if you are an Introvert.  (From Author Nancy R. Fenn.)

For your notes, take a look at the following artwork, and decide which one is more YOU...

Join us back here for more insight on the Introvert Personality trait.

The Writer's Comfort Levels ~ PART 17 ~ "Disgust"

The Writer's Comfort Levels
PART 17
"Disgust"

BLOG SESSION
February 14th, 2018

We are back for our regularly Scheduled Blog Session about our 17th emotion, which is "Disgust" as it relates to The Writer's Comfort Levels.

If you are a Writer, Author, Novelist, Journalist, Film Writer, Poet,  Playwright, Diary Writer, Short Story Writer, or if you are working on a book, or a Writing Project that you'd like to publish, then you are in the right place!

Be sure to Bookmark your new Blogspot if you are new here, and sign up to "Follow by Email" over in the far right-hand column under my eyeball, then be sure to click the "Submit" button after you have entered in your email address.  You will promptly receive all Blog Sessions immediately upon publication and you will then be able to read them from your email box at your leisure.

We all bring our Journals when we read our Sessions so that we may take notes.  If you do not have a nice Journal to write your notes in, just grab a notebook or notepad that you have available to take your notes until you can purchase a dedicated Journal that you like just for our Sessions.

Journal Notes

Whenever you are working on the personalities of the various characters in your stories, then you are well aware of the various feelings and emotions that come into play.  Each character in your story will of course have their own background.  The life of each of your characters is compiled of events, situations, circumstances, difficulties, people, family members, friends, co-workers, life problems, and in some cases tragedies and deep hurts.  Please make a special note that "feelings" and "emotions" always come into view.

As you develop your characters, consider their life story.  What have they been through in life thus far, and how have the events in their life affected them?  What kind of emotional state are they in?  What type of feelings are they harboring?

Writer's Exercise for Today

Take a moment to think about your life.  For today's exercise, please make a note of your feelings today in relation to the state of your life.  In your Journal, write today's date and our Session title:  "The Writer's Comfort Levels" ~ Part 17 ~ "Disgust".

Now, after writing down how you are honestly feeling today, take a second to just list the various emotions you are feeling.  As a point of reference, We have covered sixteen (16) emotions prior to today's Blog Session.  To review all twenty-one emotions that we are covering, click here.  Any number of the emotions listed may be exactly what you are feeling today.

After listing all of the emotions that you may be feeling today, just simply take a second to think on a time when you have personally felt the emotion of disgust.

Disgust is a feeling of revulsion or profound disapproval aroused by something unpleasant or offensive.

Other words that bring to mind the feeling of "disgust" are...
revulsion
repugnance
aversion
distaste
distasteful
abhorrence
loathing
detestation
odium
execration
horror
nausea
yuck factor
disrelish
repellence
repellency

sicken
nauseate
squick
gross
outrage
shock
horrify
appall
scandalize
offend
affront
dismay
displease
dissatisfy
annoy
anger
nauseate
turn someone's stomach
make someone want to throw up
make shudder
cause to feel nauseous
make someone's gorge rise
be repugnant to
be repulsed by
turn off

Please Note:  All of the above listed words are in the same emotional area of our emotion for today, which is "disgust".

Revisiting the emotion of "disgust"

After you have written down in your Journal about the time when you felt the feeling of "disgust", sit with that feeling for about five minutes.  Run the actual incident through you mind that brought the emotion of "disgust" to the forefront.

Now, imagine that you are creating a character who has to exhibit the feeling of "disgust" in your story.  Write a sample paragraph for the sake of practice.  You may find it helpful to create a character that is actually telling the story through your own eyes.  Descriptive of what you felt when you had the emotion of "disgust" running through your veins, you will find it easy to write.  You'll also find it easy to build a story around this one character that you are creating and writing a paragraph about.

We have four (4) more emotions to cover after this Blog Session.  Those four emotions are as follows...

18)  Shock

19)  Kindness

20)  introversion (personality)

21)  extroversion (personality)

We'll be back for another great Blog Session tomorrow!

Boss Cat working on Novel for 2018

Boss Cat working on Novel for 2018

BLOG SESSION
January 14th, 2018

Good Afternoon Novelists ~ We're back for another great Blog Session!

Now if you really want to get busy working on your Novel, you'll have to position yourself in your chair at your computer or laptop and start typing.

Nevermind the distractions, you'll have to learn to ignore them, and the best way to do that is to simply place yourself in front of your computer and type what comes out.  Put on your "Boss Cat" wear, and get your mind lined up to produce the Novel that has been on your heart.

Typing out what comes out is the best way to find out what is dwelling inside of you.  Don't think about it too hard or too long, just type.

Once you learn to just sit yourself down at the computer and type, you'll be amazed at what you come up with.

If you are the type of Writer that keeps talking about writing your Novel, and you seem to keep putting it off, remember your kids and others around you are listening and watching, and more importantly, they are waiting...

"I can get a Novel done faster than Boss Cat"

No pressure dear Novelist, just know that your Novel will be wonderful once your put your hands to your keyboard.  Wishing for you plenty of good practice for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) which will be upon us all in November 2018.

Full type speed ahead!

Peace, Love & Light

Handwriting your Novel

Handwriting your Novel

BLOG SESSION
December 6th, 2017

Good Evening Writers, Authors, Novelists, Poets, Blog Readers, Followers & Visitors ~ We're back for another great Blog Session.

As we continue to discuss writing our Novels this month, today's Blog Session will focus on handwriting your Novel.  In our last Session we discussed the topic of "Typing up your Novel".

Many Writers have long since abandoned the exercise of handwriting their Novels, while others stick with the tried and true way to get their Novel down on paper - - handwrite every word.

Handwriting your Novel

All you need to get started on handwriting your Novel is a great Notebook or Journal.  You can use the ink pen of your choice ~ preferably one that is a smooth writing ink pen.  I'm telling you this, because many Writers seem to think that the computer is the only way to get their Novels written.

Getting your words down on paper in ink gives your Novel the commitment needed to get you engaged.  There are other Writers that like to use pencils so that they can erase and do their corrections.  Commit in ink.  If you need to change your writing you will just have to draw a line through what is being corrected, then write the changes.  What happens when you commit in ink is that you will always be able to look back at what you have written, even if you have drawn lines through portions of your writing, you will still be able to see what was once there.  If you are the kind of Writer that flip-flops back and forth on what you would like to say and how you would like to say it, then the ink method is my suggestion for you.  Writing in ink will lead you to be more focused and more decisive.

Author, your Novel is calling out to you . . .

"Finish writing me"

Just when are you going to finish the Novel that you keep talking about?  How long before you simply sit down and do it?  What exactly is slowing down your progress?  Let me just say to you, there is no justifiable answer to those questions.  You simply must sit down and write.

If you are still in the process of sorting out your Novel...
Maybe you are still working on the genre, title, overview, plot, characters, personality traits of your characters, background of your characters, character names, scenes, descriptions of the cities, towns or countries in your story.  That is fine.  You can use a notebook or journal just for your novel ideas and notes.  You can call it your Novel Idea Journal.  Having several Notebooks and/or Journals is not a bad idea.  You may have several ideas for Novels and you can use a different Notebook or Journal for each of your Novel ideas.

Your collection of Journals
for your
Novel Ideas

Pull out all of your creative juices to get yourself started on your journey to the write novel.  The write novel is the novel that all of your novel ideas lead you to.  The Novel that is calling out to you to be written is the one that will jump out at you and scream ~ write me!
