Boss Cat working on Novel for 2018

Boss Cat working on Novel for 2018

BLOG SESSION
January 14th, 2018

Good Afternoon Novelists ~ We're back for another great Blog Session!

Now if you really want to get busy working on your Novel, you'll have to position yourself in your chair at your computer or laptop and start typing.

Nevermind the distractions, you'll have to learn to ignore them, and the best way to do that is to simply place yourself in front of your computer and type what comes out.  Put on your "Boss Cat" wear, and get your mind lined up to produce the Novel that has been on your heart.

Typing out what comes out is the best way to find out what is dwelling inside of you.  Don't think about it too hard or too long, just type.

Once you learn to just sit yourself down at the computer and type, you'll be amazed at what you come up with.

If you are the type of Writer that keeps talking about writing your Novel, and you seem to keep putting it off, remember your kids and others around you are listening and watching, and more importantly, they are waiting...

"I can get a Novel done faster than Boss Cat"

No pressure dear Novelist, just know that your Novel will be wonderful once your put your hands to your keyboard.  Wishing for you plenty of good practice for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) which will be upon us all in November 2018.

Full type speed ahead!

Peace, Love & Light

FAMOUS POETS

FAMOUS POETS

BLOG SESSION
December 11th, 2017

Good Afternoon Blog Readers, Followers, Poets, Poetry Lovers & Visitors ~ We are back for another great Blog Session about Famous Poets!

Today's Blog Session will shed light on some Famous Poets.  If you are a Poet, or a poetry lover, you'll need to grab your Journal to take notes.

Can you imagine a time back in the day when there was a certain Poet that amazed poetry readers with his poetics, and still does to this day?  Take a look at who this man is . . .

Edgar Allan Poe
January 19, 1809 - October 07, 1849
(Died at age 40)

Edgar Allan Poe was an American writer, editor, and literary critic.  Poe is best known for his poetry and short stories, particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre.  He is widely regarded as a central figure of Romanticism in the United States and American literature as a whole, and he was one of the country's earliest practitioners of the short story. Poe is generally considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre and is further credited with contributing to the emerging genre of science fiction.  He was the first well-known American writer to try to earn a living through writing alone, resulting in a financially difficult life and career.

FAMOUS LITERARY WORKS:

The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe (published 1845) Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. [Excerpt]

Alfred Lord Tennyson
1809 - 1892

Alfred Tennyson, 1st Baron Tennyson, FRS was Poet Laureate of Great Britain and Ireland during much of Queen Victoria's reign and remains one of the most popular British poets.

A number of phrases from Tennyson's work have become commonplaces of the English language, including "Nature, red in tooth and claw" (In Memoriam A.H.H.), "Tis better to have loved and lost/Than never to have loved at all", "Theirs is not to reason why,/Theirs but to do and die", "My strength is as the strength of ten,/Because my heart is pure", "To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield", "Knowledge comes, but Wisdom lingers", and "The old order changeth, yielding place to new".

Alfred Lord Tennyson is the ninth most frequently quoted writer in The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations.

Oscar Wilde
Born October 16, 1854 in Dublin, Ireland
Died November 30, 1900 in Paris, France

Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde was an Irish poet and playwright.  After writing in different forms throughout the 1880s, he became one of London's most popular playwrights in the early 1890s.  He is best remembered for his epigrams and plays, his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, as well as the circumstances of his imprisonment and early death.

Oscar Wilde was a Poet and a Dramatist whose reputation rests on his only Novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray (1891),  and on his comic masterpieces Lady Windermere's Fan (1892) and The Importance of Being Earnest (1895).  He was a spokesman for the late 19th-century Aesthetic movement in England, which advocated art for art's sake, and he was the object of celebrated civil and criminal suits involving homosexuality and ending in his imprisonment (1895-97).

Wilde was born of professional and literary parents.  His father, Sir William Wilde, was Ireland's leading ear and eye surgeon, who also published books on archaeology, folklore, and the satirist Jonathan Swift.  His mother, who wrote under the name Speranza, was a revolutionary poet and an authority on Celtic myth and folklore.

In the final decade of his life, Wilde wrote and published nearly all of his major work.  In his only novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray (published in Lippincott’s Magazine, 1890, and in book form, revised and expanded by six chapters, 1891), Wilde combined the supernatural elements of the Gothic novel with the unspeakable sins of French decadent fiction.  Critics charged immorality despite Dorian’s self-destruction; Wilde, however, insisted on the amoral nature of art regardless of an apparently moral ending.  Intentions (1891), consisting of previously published essays, restated his aesthetic attitude toward art by borrowing ideas from the French poets Theophile Gautier and Charles Baudelaire and the American painter James McNeill Whistler.  In the same year, two volumes of stories and fairy tales also appeared, testifying to his extraordinary creative inventiveness: Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime, and Other Stories and A House of Pomegranates.

T. S. Eliot
Born September 26,1888
Died January 4, 1965
(Died at age 76)

Thomas Stearns Eliot, OM was a British essayist, publisher, playwright, literary and social critic, and "one of the twentieth century's major poets".  He moved from his native United States to England in 1914 at the age of 25, settling, working, and marrying there.  He eventually became a British subject in 1927 at the age of 39, renouncing his American citizenship.

Welcome Writer!

Welcome Writer!

BLOG SESSION
June 29th, 2017

You've entered into another exciting Blog Session.  If you were here with us in the last Session, you'll remember that we discussed, "Your Thoughts".  We took time to Journal our thoughts, and we also took stock of exactly what we have been thinking about.  Our goal in our last Blog Session was to determine if our thoughts were negative or positive.  We needed to ascertain if we have a habit of spending time thinking about uplifting things or those things that bring about a downward spiral.

Our thoughts have an awesome amount of power.  Our thoughts are our springboard to exciting living that is both meaningful and progressive.

When you take the time to Journal your thoughts and your feelings, you are better able to get a handle on what is going on inside of your head.  That is the reason why we stress using your Journal when you come here to the Blog Sessions.

Your Journal ~ Your Style

No matter what your Journal may look like, the most important thing you need to do is to get a Journal that you can identify with -- one that suits you and your personality.

If you like using a Diary, then by all means, use your Diary daily to keep up with your "self".  Daily Diary writing is such a wonderful tool to assess what is happening with you, and to make note of those things that are happening in your life.

The title of today's Blog Session is, "Welcome Writer!" ...
If you make it a point to write in your Journal or Diary daily then you will be well on your way to having a clearer picture of what is happening with you.

We discuss a lot of interesting topics here on the Blog, and of course we find the topics interesting.  We are Readers that enjoy reading interesting material.  What we're going to bring back to mind today is that we are Writers.  That is what each of us do.  We write.

Writer at work

If you don't think that you are a Writer, then after you get through writing in your Journal for about a month, you will change your mind.  Writing is a natural thing.

We have many Writers here amongst us, as well as Authors, Aspiring Authors, Emerging Authors, Novelists, Poets, Film Writers, Playwrights, and many Creative Writers.  This is a good thing, because there is something coming into view during the month of July called, Camp NaNoWriMo.

Suddenly, I feel some Readers wondering what in the world is she talking about?

If you have heard of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), then you are probably familiar with Camp NaNoWriMo.

National Novel Writing Month takes place every year in the month of November.  Camp NaNoWriMo, which is a Summer Camp for Authors & Writers, (and those who love to write) is a fun way to take some time this Summer to write the Novel you've been putting off.

July 1st is the day to roll into Camp NaNoWriMo...

Just click on the link to check out the Camp.  You'll be able to do all of the following in Camp . . .
  • Complete a writing project in a month
  • Track your progress
  • Get online support
  • Free to participants
  • 100% fun!
If you have participated in NaNoWriMo in the past, then you will have a lot of fun going to Camp NaNoWriMo this Summer!

If you are new to Camp NaNoWriMo, but have participated in NaNoWriMo online during the month of November, then you can use your NaNoWriMo account info to log into Camp.

If you are going to Camp NaNoWriMo for the first time, then you can sign up by clicking on the  "Join Now" button on the landing page.  Once you click on the Join Now button, then you will be taken to another page where you will be able to create your Camper account.  Then once you've created your Camper account, you can get your cabin where you will be able to write your masterpiece during the month of July.  You have 31 days to do so, and you'll enjoy every minute of it!

We'll be back tomorrow with more about Camp NaNoWriMo. You can best believe I'll be in Camp during the month of July, because it is so much fun, and I love to WRITE!

Until our next Blog Session ~

Peace, Love & Light,

 René

April 1st, 2017
We're Wrapping Up with Stone 9!

We are now back from writing our full Journal Page on all of the words that we have for our Stones up to this point.  We now have one (1) more Stone left to go!

Your last Stone -- Stone 9 could end up anywhere on your Balancing Stones Sculpture diagram, depending upon your choice of placement of your words thus far.  If you take a moment to look at my example at the top of this Blog post, you will see that I have placed all of my eight (8) Stones on my Balancing Stones Sculpture diagram (as instructed in our Writing Project) for everyone to view and follow along as we wrap up.

When you were last here, I mentioned to everyone participating in our Writing Project that we were getting to the FUN part, and that you needed to pull out the Writer in you and get ready to be present and focused on our last Stone -- Stone 9.

REVIEW OF LAST SET OF INSTRUCTIONS:  Take all of the words that you have placed on your Balancing Stones Sculpture diagram, including Stone 2 which is the year that your Stone 1 word was first used in the English language.  (For those who joined us in the middle of our Writing Project and did not go back to the beginning to catch up, you were told that you may just have one word or two, and that is fine, you were able to just follow along with the same Instructions with the words that you had).  We will be utilizing all the words at our disposal to come up with our Stone 9.

Here are my words as an example for everyone (as seen on the Balancing Stones Sculpture diagram at the top of this Blog post)  . . .

The Balancing Stones Sculpture Writing Project
Stones 1 - 8
(My Example)
Stone 1 - Novelist
Stone 2 - 1728
Stone 3 - Opera
Stone 4 -  Novels
Stone 5 - Journal
Stone 6 - Therapy
Stone 7 -  Behavorism
Stone 8 - Radical

You were to ask the Writer in you a very important question:

What can I write in my Journal utilizing all of the words on my Balancing Stones Sculpture diagram?

You had an extra day to come back with a full Journal page using all of the words on your Stones.  This is where your creativity had to come into play as a Writer.  If you could not seem to fill up a full Journal page, then you should have flipped gears and filled in your story just like an Author, Novelist, Journalist, Script Writer, Film Writer, Playwright or Poet does.  In essence, you were to think like the Writer that you are.  I'm sure everyone did that -- right?  (I can see the huge smiles on your faces).

Please grab your Journals with your full Journal page written using all of the words on your Stones.

We'll meet back here this afternoon with my full Journal page example and your full Journal page example to get to our last Stone -- Stone 9!

See you shortly!

Peace, Love & Light,

  René

I sure hope that you have your Camping gear!

It is that time of the year again, and if you are an Author, Novelist, a Playwrite, or a lover of writing short stories, then you need to get it in gear if you are not already at the NaNoWriMo Camp Site!

Let's just say that you are new to attending the Camp sessions that take place online in April and July every year...

No problem, you can still join in right now.  The July Camp session began on July 1st, 2016.  You can head on over to the Camp Site and sign up.  The idea is to keep your writing flowing.  And, there is no reason not to get started.

Here is the link:  http://campnanowrimo.org

Once inside, just take a look around, and you'll find that you can complete a writing project in a month, track your progress, get online support, meet new friends and writing partners, and the best part is that it is 100% free to participants and most of all, it is a lot of FUN!

If you are new to participating, just click the JOIN NOW button.  If you have participated in National Novel Writing Month (known as NaNoWriMo) in the past, then you can use your account info, and sign right in  -- you'll find the spot in the right hand column once you have clicked on the link above.

You can choose to have a private Cabin to do your writing in, or share a Cabin with friends.  If you are really adventurous, then you can choose to be surprised with a Cabin of fellow Writers that you don't already know.

What are Cabins?
Camp NaNoWriMo Illustrated Tent
Cabins are Camp NaNoWriMo’s version of a writing group. Up to twelve writers can bunk together in a virtual cabin to create a personal writing community.

You can choose to be part of a cabin:
1)  By being sorted into a public cabin; or
2)  By creating, or being invited into a private cabin.

You'll really enjoy Camp NaNoWriMo.  I started participating in National Novel Writing Month in 2008, and continued each year every November up to 2013.

In June and August of 2012, I jumped right into Camp NaNoWriMo for the first time, and wrote a Novel in June, and then another Novel in August.  After which, I wrote a Novel in November of 2013 during National Novel Writing Month.

In November, 2014 I took a break from NaNoWriMo, and jumped back onto the writing scene in November of 2015 with another Novel.

The idea is to write 50,000 words in a month.  It is really easy once you get started clicking the laptop keys.  Before you know it, you'll be over the 50,000 word mark!

For the discovery of what amazing tale is lurking inside of you, you know what I say, go on and click on the Camp NaNoWriMo link and "Try it!"

You'll find so much more once you go to the Camp Site.  I'll be back here to provide more insight about Camp, and I truly hope to see you over there...

Get together with other Writers, and be INSPIRED!

Peace, Love & Light,
