What does it mean to really let the Writer in you W R I T E? ~ Part 3 ~

What does it mean
to really let the Writer
in you
W R I T E?
~ Part 3 ~

BLOG SESSION
April 7th, 2018

Good Morning Writers ~ We're back for another wonderful Session so that you may learn how to really let the Writer in you WRITE.

If you are wondering about how in the world you can make this happen, you'll need to grab your trusty Journal and take some notes...

Journal Notes for the Writer in you!

First off, you'll need to jot down the topic that strikes your fancy.  Do you like writing about your life?  Do you enjoy writing about a particular subject matter that others may be interested in ~ like a hobby you enjoy?  Do you like writing about Science?  Do you enjoy writing about an area of interest that others have trouble with ~ like speaking before a crowd?  Do you have funny stories that you would like to write about that others would find entertaining?  Are you one of those individuals who have encountered paranormal activities that you'd like to tell others about in a way that only you can?  Do you have a romance novel rolling around in your head?

Writing about who YOU are.

Maybe you are just one of those Writers that can write a story about who you are at the core of your being that will be a fascinating read for others!

Just maybe, you could have a story buried inside of you that will only come forth if you simply sit down at your computer and start typing without thinking about what is pouring out.  This Session is all about getting out of your own way.  You'll have to stop blocking the Writer in you from showing up for duty.

If you are a Diary Writer or a Journal Writer and you take time daily to write down your thoughts, it may be helpful for you to pull out some of those old Diaries and/or Journals and check out what is in them!

 Go over your old Diary
and/or
Journal writings

Never be afraid to write.  Write with ink ~ write with pencil ~ write with marker ~ write and make illustrations, drawings, artworks, diagrams...inspire and motivate your "self".  Stimulate your soul by going for walks with your headset.  Listen to music that you enjoy as you take your walks.  Do what makes you happy, and after that ~ W R I T E.

Poets are blessed to have words that flow...

Poets ~ You have absolutely no reason whatsoever not to have a writing ready to pour out of you -- after all, Poets are naturally gifted.  Start putting together a compilation of your poems.

Whatever you do today, my advice to you is to take a moment to sit and get quiet with the Writer inside of you.  Ask the Writer in you what they would like to talk about.  Then get your tape recorder and start talking.  If you don't have a tape recorder, then get your notepad and start writing.  When you are done, relax ~ you've begun your journey whether you realize it or not.  Writing is simply a thought away.  All you have to do is let your fingers move around on the computer keys.  If you need music to inspire you, go at it dear Writer...

Simulate your mind with music
W R I T E R

See you in the next Session!

Journal Notes
The Writer's Comfort Levels
PART 7
"Betrayal"

We all know that "Betrayal" has long since been related to exposure by someone of one's country, a group, or a person which causes danger by treacherously giving information to an enemy.  As in the case of a double agent who betrayed some 400 British and French agents to the Germans.  Or as in the case of an employee who gives secrets of the company to a competitor.

We all know of people who are unfaithful, not loyal, untrustworthy, and who are in essence wolves in sheep's clothing.

You cannot possibly understand the depth of betrayal unless you have been betrayed.  Betrayal causes damage, hurt feelings, long term trauma in some cases, and a host of other emotional and mental issues as a result.

There are family members who betray other family members, friends who betray their friends, and spouses who turn out to be betrayers.

Loyalty is the quality of being loyal to someone or something.  Loyalty is important in a relationship of any kind ~ marriages, families, friendships, working relationships, business relationships, church relationships, group affiliations, and commitments to others in your life.

Loyal individuals bring forth a strong feeling of support or allegiance.  There is nothing worse than being around a jealous, envious, hateful or snarky person who in their heart wants to undermine anything good in your life.

This is the reason why those who are loyal are akin to jewels that are very hard to come by.  Dear Writers ~ Always Treasure loyalty.

Treasure Loyalty

Some people take loyalty and trust for granted, and are easily persuaded to be cavalier about their interactions with others.  These are the people who will quickly betray another.  There is an emotional factor that surrounds loyalty and trust.  These two attributes are admirable and work to build others up to whom they are entrusted.

If you are loyal to someone, they will trust you.  If you trust another person, you should in turn be loyal to them.  What you say and do shows through to others.  Who you confide in you expect to trust.  Hurt feelings happen when that trust is broken.

The account of one who has been betrayed.

Not all is forgotten even when the wounds and scars that betrayal have caused have been forgiven.  There is a level of trust that erodes when one is betrayed...

Noteworthy Sayings

Something to keep in mind when dealing with people who crave the spotlight and those who may have a personality disorder such as Narcissism.

Narcissism is the pursuit of gratification from vanity or egotistic admiration of one's own attributes.  The term originated from the Greek mythology, where the young Narcissus fell in love with his own image reflected in a pool of water.

Narcissistic people don't care about you.  Do not expect then to be loyal to you.  It won't happen.  Please make a note of it.

Me, me, and more ME.

The emotion of "Betrayal" is a strong one.  If you have ever come across betrayal in your life, then you will completely understand the feelings associated with it when you have been betrayed.

Betrayal is an emotion that is so powerful that it will bring out the best in your writing.  If you are a Writer, gather your emotional experiences together and journal them.  You may also want to reflect on the feelings you have experienced in your life personally, and make notes for use in your writings when you build your Character Profiles for your stories.

The same people and personalities that you have come upon in your life are great fuel for your future fictional stories ~ change the names to protect the innocent (wink).

See you next time in our next Blog Session as we continue our discussion on The Writer's Comfort Levels with PART 8 "Hurt".

The Writer's Comfort Levels ~ PART 2

The Writer's Comfort Levels
PART 2

BLOG SESSION
January 28th, 2018

We're back for another wonderful Blog Session dear Writers ~ Today's Session will be taking you on a journey into PART 2  of "The Writer's Comfort Levels".

If you were here for our last two Sessions, then you have your Journal Notes about our list of emotions that we are covering.  You may go back to look at any of our previous Blog Sessions by scrolling down past today's Session, or by looking over in the far right-hand column in our "Blog Archive".

We use our Journals here so that we can refer back to our notes as we work on our writings.

Journal Notes

As an overview, in our last Session, we took the emotion of "sadness" (sorrow) and worked with it in our Journals.  The instructions were for all Writers here on the Blog to:  Take a moment to reflect on a time when you were sad.  If you can remember the date, jot that down.  If you can remember why you were sad, jot that down.  If you have no idea why you were sad, jot that down.  If there were people involved in your sadness, write their names down.  If there was a circumstance or situation that caused your sadness, write that down.

Here is what you are doing -- you are meeting up with this friend of yours called, "Sadness" who sometimes goes by the nickname "Sorrow".  You must learn not to be afraid of sadness/sorrow because you will learn valuable lessons from this friend.

Remember, you'll find that Sadness/Sorrow will help you to hone your writing craft.  And, don't worry at all, because Sadness/Sorrow won't charge you a dime.

If you completed the exercise on Sadness/Sorrow in your Journal, then you should be feeling really good about yourself.  You should now be ready for our next emotion.

True Intensity

Now onward to our next emotion . . .

2.  True intensity

True intensity involves the quality of being "intense".

True intensity may masquerade around as any of the following:  strength, power, potency, force, severity, ferocity, vehemence, fierceness, harshness, magnitude, greatness, acuteness, extremity, passion, ardor, fervor, fervency, zeal, fire, heat, eagerness, animation, spirit, vigor, energy, and/or fanaticism.

There are some people who have an intensity level that is frightening.  Most of these type people are known as overbearing, toxic, deadly.  The vibrational level around them is like poison.  And, as we all know, poison is a substance that is capable of causing the illness or death of a living organism when introduced or absorbed.

What I'd like to turn your attention to today dear Writer ~ is the way in which you may learn how to harness your intensity level from the inside.

True intensity for the Writer is that which is mastered from within.  Once you have learned how to do this, then you will be unmoved by madness.  You will also be able to recognize false intensity ~ otherwise known as drama.

Those individuals who feed on drama find ways in which to increase their intensity level so as to stir those around them up into a frenzy.  If you are a person who has not learned how to fortify yourself, a person of this type will unnerve you.

You, dear Writer, must learn how to possess true intensity so that you may walk into a room that has an out-of-whack vibrational level ... and ... still the space you enter into.  What will happen is more of a calming effect.  A focused calmness so to speak.  Have you ever been in a room full of people and there is a lot of activity going on ~ loudness ~ talking ~ walking ~ movement of all types ~ and then....someone enters into the room, and every activity, sound, and motion stops.

hmmmmmmm ~ True intensity has arrived.

This is what happens when you are able to write a Novel that grabs your reader's attention and it has a profound effect upon them.

Make a note that True intensity will not only grab your Reader's attention, it will also grab your attention, and those who come around you....in a GOOD way.

You will get more insight on how to harness your True intensity in PART 2b of our Blog Session on "The Writer's Comfort Levels" . . .

See you back here tomorrow Writers!

Writing from a place of c a l m . . .

Writing from a place of  c a l m . . .

BLOG SESSION
July 2017

Good Afternoon Blog Readers, Followers & Visitors, we are here for another fabulous Blog Session.  Today we are going to talk about writing from a place of "c a l m".

When you are writing your short stories, Novels, or other creative writings, you must learn how to write from a place of calm.  In order to do this, you must tune yourself down from the hyper activity of the day.

We have so much going on in our daily lives that we have to make sure that we are in a place of calm when it comes to our writing.  When we write from a place of calm then we will find that our writing flows freely and clearly.

Imagine that you are filled with hundreds of activities from your day ~ telephone conversations, internet activity, emails, work-related tasks, family issues, personal circumstances, and unexpected situations that pop up from time to time -- vehicle issues, home repairs, daily chores ~ doing the lawn, cooking, cleaning, straightening out papers and records, and on and on.  If you were to Journal your daily activities from beginning to end, you would be very surprised at the amount of items that are in your day to day life.

If you do not meditate on a daily basis, you should try doing so.  Stress is a build up of overwhelming activities and issues that are happening to you on a daily basis.

Take time to Meditate Daily

Pressure or tension comes from being in a state of mental or emotional strain.  The tension that many of us feel is a result of having adverse or very demanding circumstances in our life.  We have to learn how to eliminate all things in our life that are demanding of our time or attention and serve no real purpose.

Another way to get into a place within yourself that brings about "calm", is to get ahead of all of your projects and activities, and not let your projects and activities get ahead of you.

Please make a note in your Journals about the medical definition of stress:

Stress: In a medical or biological context stress is a physical, mental, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension.  Stresses can be external (from your environment, psychological, or social situations) or internal (illness, or from a medical procedure).

Take a moment to get your Journal out . . .

Journal Notes

Make a Note of all of the things that are going on in your life that could possibly be sources of stress and tension.  Number the items that come to your mind . . .

1)    Dealing with a relative's illness
2)    Work demands
3)    Co-workers or employees that cause problems
4)    Any medical issues that you have personally
5)    Taking care of pets
6)    Financial demands
7)    Children in school and their activities
8)    Too much noise on a daily basis
9)    Too much talk on a daily basis
10)  Too many meetings; events; and/or activities

Then make a list of what you can do to eliminate some of the items on your list.  For instance, can someone else in the family help with your relative's doctor visits or getting their medicines?  Is there any way to downsize on your work demands?  Are there ways that you can not be closely associated with co-workers or employees that cause problems?  Are you taking good care of yourself, and if not, why not?  Is there anyone else who can help you with the care of your pets?  Are you working on your financial demands with the help of a Financial Planner?  Do you have help with your children and their activities, and if not, can you find help?  Is there a way for you to cut down on your daily in-take of noise and talk in your life?  Is there a way to cut down on the amount of meetings, events, or activities that you currently have going on?

Another way for you to get into a place of "calm" is to listen to calming meditations or music in the privacy of your home or car, or with your head phones.  You can also listen on your lunch breaks at work . . .

If you write Fiction or are interested in writing Fiction, then take a look at some of the Genres . . .

For Your Journal Reference

Notes about Adventure:  An adventure is an event or series of events that happens outside the course of the protagonist's ordinary life, usually accompanied by danger, often by physical action.  Adventure stories almost always move quickly, and the pace of the plot is at least as important as characterization, setting and other elements of a creative work.

Adventure Fiction is fiction that usually presents danger, or gives the reader a sense of excitement.

Action Adventure - "action" is the key element (overshadowing characters) and involves a quest or military style mission set in exotic or forbidding locales such as jungles, deserts or mountains.  The conflict typically involves spies, mercenaries, terrorists, smugglers, pirates, or other dark and shadowy figures.  Note:  Action Adventures tend to attract a male audience.

Classics are books accepted as being exemplary or noteworthy, for example through an imprimatur such as being listed in a list of great books, or through a reader's personal opinion.  Although the term is often associated with the Western canon, it can be applied to works of literature from all traditions, such as the Chinese classics or the Indian Vedas.
What makes a book "classic" is a concern that has occurred to various authors ranging from Italo Calvino to Mark Twain and the related questions of "Why Read the Classics?" and "What Is a Classic?" have been essayed by authors from different genres and eras (including Calvino, T. S. Eliot, Charles Augustin Sainte-Beuve).  The ability of a classic book to be reinterpreted, and to seemingly be renewed in the interests of generations of readers succeeding its creation, is a theme that is seen in the writings of literary critics including Michael Dirda, Ezra Pound, and Saint-Beuve.
Fantasy literature is set in an imaginary universe, often but not always without any locations, events, or people from the real world.  Magic, the supernatural and magical creatures are common in many of these imaginary worlds.
Fantasy is a subgenre of speculative fiction and is distinguished from the genres of science fiction and horror by the absence of scientific or macabre themes, respectively, though these genres overlap.  Historically, most works of fantasy were written.  However, since the 1960s, a growing segment of the fantasy genre has taken the form of films, television programs, graphic novels, video games, music and art.
A numbering of fantasy novels originally written for children, such as Alice in Wonderland, and the Hobbit also attract an adult audience.
Ghost Stories - the term "ghost story" can refer to any kind of scary story.  In a narrower sense, the ghost story has been developed as a short story format, with the fiction genre.
Historical Fiction - A fictional story set in a recognizable period of history.  As well as telling the stories of ordinary people's lives, historical fiction may involve political or social events of the time.
Horror is a genre of fiction which is intended to, or has the capacity to frighten, scare, disgust or startle its readers or viewers by inducing feelings of horror and terror.  Literary historian J. A. Cuddon has defined the horror story as "a piece of fiction in prose of variable length...which shocks or even frightens the reader, or perhaps induces a feeling of repulsion or loathing".
The above Genre descriptions are for your Journal Notes, and we will be back here on the Blog to continue sharing more genre descriptions in our next Blog Session.  Look forward to learning more about the remaining Fiction Genres that are on today's Listing:  Humor, Mystery, Romance, Sports, and Science Fiction!

What can you expect in our next Blog Session
that you will be happy to gain more knowledge about?

Up Next on the BLOG:
Learn more about Science Fiction

Friends, until we meet again back here on the Blog,

Keep Writing!

Peace, Love & Light,

René
