Good Evening Writers and all literary creatives who have decided to take the leap and participate in Camp NaNoWriMo during the month of April 2018.

If you are a Writer at heart, then you are always ready to write.  We have been discussing working on our Book Projects and the making of our new novels during our camp experience this month.

Camp NaNoWriMo

Signing up for Spring Writer's Camp is the first step -- Camp NaNoWriMo is an offshoot of National Novel Writing Month, where Writers get online and create their new Novels in 30 days.  For Spring Camp, you are not limited in whatever it is you'd like to create during the month of April.  The idea is to simply sign up and create a writing project of your choice ~ and the best part:  You get to  meet other Writers & Authors (including Poets), you'll receive good advice and writing tips, you'll complete a writing project at the end of the month, and it is Free!

Getting into the swing of

Getting into the swing of typing up your Novel is fun, its inspiring, and it is well worth your time and effort.  My advice to everyone who is doing this for the first time is to just get on your computer or laptop and just start typing!

After you have filled out your Profile and other information for Camp NaNoWriMo, you can check out all of the other areas of the Camp Site.  Remember to check your mailbox inside Camp NaNo (which is located under the "CONVERSATION" tab).  You'll find good tips inside your mailbox, and interesting updates.

You can also invite a friend to join you at Camp NaNo, and you may also want your friend to be inside the same Cabin with you.

For all Writers who have not yet created their book cover and are trying to figure out how to go about making one, you'll want to be here for our next Blog Session entitled "Creating your Book Cover".

Welcome back Authors, Novelists, Journalists, Writers, Poets, emerging authors, Artists, Blog Readers, Followers, Friends & Visitors!

We are here this evening to get back to learning more about CampNaNoWriMo.  Please click on the link if you have not yet visited the Spring Writer's Camp and/or signed up to get started with writing your book or working on your Writing Project during the month of April 2018.

If you were here for our last Blog Session, then you have plenty of notes in your Journal about getting started with writing your book online (for free) in a wonderful Writer's Spring Camp that many of us are familiar with.  Camp NaNoWriMo is the off-spring of NaNoWriMo ~ which stands for "National Novel Writer's Month" -- which takes place every November.

Writers get together online to work on their Novels, Books, Short Stories, Poetry, and Writer's Projects during Camp in the Spring and Summer online.  You're encouraged to check it out if you have always wanted to write a book but may not have quite known how to get inspired to do so.  Just make a note in your Journal that there are plenty of other Writers and established Authors online working on their book projects during Camp NaNoWriMo in both the Spring (April) and Summer (July).  While there are many sites that you can check out if you are a Writer looking for a place to work on your Novel or Writing Project, we're focusing on Camp NaNoWriMo at this time.  We're particularly interested in focusing on Camp NaNoWriMo at this time because the month of April has just begun, and now we can all get started writing for the month of April together with other Writers.

You'll enjoy the Camp -- you can pick your Cabin once you have signed up to participate.  Cabins are Camp NaNoWriMo's version of a writing group.  Up to 20 writers can bunk together in a virtual cabin to create a personal writing community.  Doesn't that sound like fun!?

You can also choose to be part of a Cabin by being sorted into a public cabin, or by creating or being invited into a private cabin.

Camp NaNoWriMo Cabins -- Knowledge Base 

NOTE:  To join a cabin, make sure you’ve:

1.  Created a Writing Project for the current session of Camp, and

2.  Filled out your Profile.

3.  Then, be sure to set your preferences on the Cabin Settings page...

If you want to be sorted into a cabin randomly, select the “Surprise me with random cabin mates!” option and click “Submit.”

If you want to be sorted into a cabin with writers that share similar interests, select “I’m looking for campers that match specific criteria.”

Then, you’ll be able to request cabin mates within your age group, writing in your genre, and/or with similar word-count goals.  Once you’ve selected all the preferences you’d like, click “Submit”.

Cabin assignments begin shortly before the start of the event, and will continue throughout the month of April on a rolling basis.

Good Evening Novelists, Night Writers, Blog Readers, Writers with heart, Followers & Visitors ~ We're really digging deep into the Novel within us to finish up our Novels in the next two upcoming days.  We have until midnight on November 30th, 2017 to finish up our Novels and/or writing projects on NaNoWriMo.

Hopefully, by now you have at least reached the 40,000 word count mark.  You can get another 10,000 words in two days if you are really flowing with your Novel writing.  Actually, 5,000 words a day is do~able.  I know some of you may have did a double-take when I said that.  Well, just try doing a few hours of typing straight and count up your words and you'll see what I mean.  Push ahead dear Novelist ~

Now for anyone who is thinking that it is just not possible, do not give up.  Keep typing.  You can always edit your Novel after NaNoWriMo is over.  Fear not emerging authors & novelists -- keep the faith!

For those of you who have completed your Novels aready, C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S to you!  It is very inspiring to hear that good news.

For those of you who are still working on your Novels, I won't hold you, get your coffee, and get to work!

Greetings to all Novelists ~ We're discussing National Novel Writing Month during this wonderful month of November 2017, and we are also learning more about writing our Novels online at NaNoWriMo.org.

If you are getting busy typing away online to produce a nice new Novel then you are in the right place to get more insight about being a participant online with other Writers, Authors, Poets, Journalists, Emerging Authors, aspiring authors, and other creative writers like yourself.

A Novelist is a person who writes a Novel.  A Novel is a fictional prose often written as a narrative that portrays characters and events in the form of a long story, usually set in a sequence of events.  The person who writes a Novel is one who has a heart for writing.

Novels are considerably lengthy and complex in terms of themes, character descriptions, and story settings.  As a genre of literary fiction, Novels are the longest of narrative prose.  The tendency of being lengthy has led to the considerable debate regarding what should constitute the minimum word limit for a piece of prose to be considered a Novel.  It is generally accepted that any piece of prose fiction longer than 40,000 words be categorized as a Novel.

This month on NaNoWriMo, we are aiming for 50,000 word Novels or higher word count.  There is such a thing as an Epic.  An Epic is traditionally a genre of poetry, know as epic poetry.  However, in modern terms, epic is often extended to other art forms, such as epic theatre, films, music, Novels, plays, television shows, and video games, wherein the story has a theme of grandeur and heroism, just as in epic poetry.

Author:  James Clavell

Description A bold English adventurer; an invincible Japanese warlord; a beautiful woman torn between two ways of life, two ways of love all brought together in an extraordinary saga of a time and a place aflame with conflict, passion, ambition, lust, and the struggle for power.  James Clavell's Shogun is a modern classic, a masterpiece of historical fiction that will continue to endure for decades to come.

Writing a Novel takes immense efforts; it is no easy task to develop a plot, create fictional characters, and build a story revolving around them that is interesting enough to make the readers read the entire book and make them want to read more.  It is a trend that many a times Novelists start out as Journalists or Short Story Writers before they attempt writing a Novel.  If you want to acquaint yourself with some of the most famous people from this profession, just go through a few of the biographies presented below, and also take a little time to do some research on your own.  Below you will find short biographies of famous Novelists (Authors), along with a little of their life story, professional information, and personal information.  Notice the timelines and trivia about each of the famous Novelists listed below...

Ernest Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway was a Nobel Prize-winning American writer who touched the pinnacles of fame with his Novel ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ which catapulted him to international glory.  Over the course of his writing career, he published seven Novels, six short story collections, and two non-fiction works which greatly influenced later generations of writers.  A highly acclaimed writer, most of his works are considered classics of American literature.  Born as the first son to well-educated and well-respected parents in Illinois, he had a comfortable childhood during which he developed a keen interest in reading and writing.  As a school student he excelled in English and was a regular contributor to his school newspaper, ‘Trapeze and Tabula’.  An athletic boy, he also took part in boxing, track and field, water polo, and football.  He decided early on that he wanted a career in writing and started off as a journalist before becoming a writer of short-stories and Novels.  He went on to serve in World War I as an ambulance driver in the Italian Army before returning to America and establishing himself as a distinguished fiction writer.  In spite of all his professional successes as a writer, Hemingway’s personal life was a constant struggle with numerous broken marriages and bouts of depression.  Deeply troubled by his personal sufferings, he committed suicide in 1961.

Toni Morrison

Toni Morrison born Chloe Ardelia Wofford, is a Novelist and Professor who has won several prestigious awards for her literary works.  As the recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature and the Pulitzer Prize among many other awards, she is one of the most brilliant Authors in the genre of African American literature.  The seeds for her future profession were sown by her father who told her stories and fables of the African culture which influenced her writings.  Primarily a Professor by profession, she began writing as a part of an informal group of writers and poets, and published her first Novel, 'The Bluest Eye'.  The critical reviews she got for her debut motivated her to write more.  She developed a style of writing that is characterized by epic themes, descriptive dialogues and rich depictions of Black American culture.  She went on to write several other Novels that were critically appreciated and won her numerous awards.  Her Novel, 'Son of Solomon' was the first Novel by a black writer to be chosen the main selection of the Book-of-the-Month Club in almost four decades.  She was already famous by the time the Novel, 'Beloved' was published but this book took her popularity to greater heights.  The Novel won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction and was later made into a film of the same name.

John Grisham

John Grisham, the best-selling Author of today, was many years ago toiling away at a law firm, unaware of his looming luck.  Before he began penning his legal thrillers, he initially worked as a lawyer in Mississippi and would pen stories during lunch breaks at work as a hobby.  Today, his books have made it to the shelves of best-sellers and he is a celebrity Author.  Some of his well-known Novels include, 'The Firm', 'The Pelican Brief', 'The Broker', 'The Appeal', The 'Theodore Boon' series, and 'The Client'.  These works have concreted Grisham's standing as the chief of legal thrillers.  In his two decades of writing, he has written innumerable Novels and has sold over 250 million copies around the world.  Some of his Novels even procreated hit Hollywood films and some are yet in development.  This famous Author outlines his Novels interminably.  some of the outlines, in his words, "take longer to write than the manuscript itself".  Grisham is largely a self-taught writer, compelled by unimpeachable instinct and a critical reading habit, influenced by the works of Mark Twain, John Steinbeck, Pay Conroy and John LeCarre.  Writing apart, he is also an active member of 'The Innocence Project'.

Your Personal Biography

As you prepare to write your Novel this year during National Novel Writing Month, be sure to take a little time to think about penning your biography.  A Biography is usually an account of someone's life written by someone else.  But for now, try writing your own biography, and you can ask your friends or family to try their hand at writing your biography.  You may find this exercise to be very interesting!
