Journal Notes
Our visual perception is important. The great thing about photographers and photography is that the important moments of life can be captured via film and cherished for years to come. In addition to the memorable photos, writing about the meaning behind those photos is vital to further understanding.
As a Diary Writer, you are able to put into words what is seen with the eyes. The depth of those words can bring forth the feelings and emotions associated with the events and activities of life. You are the master of your perception of life as you experience it and personally live it.
For the Diary Writer, the benefits are many. You are able to explore your feelings in a way that you may not otherwise be able to do. The Diary is a vessel that can be used for both your internal and external exploration. Following is an image of a Diary with photography included . . .
An Example of the Photographer's Diary
Each of us will have our own personal choice of Diary design. For the Photographer, the Diary design should go a step further to allow for photos of relevance to be inserted along side the daily diary entries.
While a Photo Album is a Photographer's best friend, a Photographer's Diary is far more beneficial for those who will later cherish the events and activities of the Photographer's life.
Noteworthy Mention:
The Photojournalist
The Photojournalist is a journalist who communicates news via photographs. We are talking about journalism in which photography dominates written copy, as in certain magazines. Photojournalism also includes news photography (whether or not for primarily pictorial media, publications, or stories).
With a view to the photojournalist, think of yourself as such if you are a Photographer who would like to keep a valuable Photographer's Diary.
A Photographer's Diary
It must also be stated that there are many Photographer's who are also Artists. Those Photographer's who are artistic in nature will many times make drawings or paintings from the images that they capture on film. For the Artistic Photographer, a Diary is a perfect place to work out the "gifts & talents" that they possess . . .
The Diary of an Artistic Photographer
Keeping a Diary that is meaningful to you as both a Photographer and a daily Diary Writer is significant when it comes to learning more about your "gifts & talents". Great photography records history. Great words record moments in history and the emotion surrounding those moments.
Your Diary, as a Photographer, can also serve to record the various cameras, lenses, filters, lighting, screens, and other tools that you may use.
As a Photographer, you'll find that keeping a Diary will serve to strengthen your photographic skills in many ways.
