As we progress to the question of "What exactly is in . . . The Diary "the ARTIST?" please make a note of the following in your Journal . . .
There have been Notebooks, Journals, and Diaries put together and written by some of the most interesting creative minds ~ Authors, Artists, Actors, Musicians, Scientists, and other great thinkers. These Notebooks, Journals, and Diaries were put together and written by individuals who were well known and/or famous for the same purpose as your purpose is for writing in your personal Diary ~ to get to know your inner self.
Take a look at the Diary of Marilyn Monroe . . .
Marilyn Monroe’s Diary
From Fragments: Poems, Intimate Notes, Letters by Marilyn Monroe.
Taking a glimpse of Marilyn Monroe's open Diary pages here, you can clearly see that her Diary looks a little messy. There are arrows, some words underlined, and a word scratched out. Neatness was not Marilyn's goal, and neatness may not be your goal either. When you write freely, anything is likely to flow out onto your Diary pages. You may even be a "highlighter" user. Whatever you feel, just do it. Don't worry about how your writing looks, just write.
Leonardo da Vinci's Notebook
[One of many of Leonardo da Vinci's Notebooks.
The pages above are diagramming a potter’s wheel, c. 1508-1509.]
Notice that Leonardo's handwriting is a little neater than Marilyn's. Also make a note of the drawings, and how intricate they are.
Let's take a look at another Diary by the hand of an Artist . . .
Frida Kahlo's Diary
Notice the visual artistry in Frida's Diary.
There is something about the hand of the Visual Artist that always adds a flare to any page, canvas, or paper product. A Diary is another place to let your artistic talent show forth.
How will your Diary look?
There is lots more to be seen from the Diary of Artists that will no doubt interest you ~ So join us back here for our next Blog Session so that you may be inspired by what you find!
